Barcelona taught their rivals Real Madrid a harsh lesson, defeating them at home and in front of their fans with a score of 4-0 in the Spanish League Clasico during the 11th round of the competition last Saturday evening.
The Catalan team scored all four goals in the second half of the match held at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, taking the lead with two goals from Polish star Robert Lewandowski in the 54th and 56th minutes, raising his tally to 14 goals as the top scorer.
According to information from the Spanish newspaper “El Nacional,” German coach Hansi Flick decided to deliver a major shock to the star of the first Clasico, despite the wonderful performance the player displayed in the match.
The newspaper added that the German coach is very pleased with the level that Dutch player Frenkie de Jong showed against Real Madrid, as he managed to outperform all of Real Madrid’s midfielders on his own and ensured Barcelona’s possession.
However, the newspaper pointed out that Flick shocked the player by explaining that it would be difficult for him to play as a starter.
The German coach confirmed on more than one occasion that there is no room to replace any of his main players except for reasons such as injury, suspension, or resting the players, so the Dutchman’s participation from the beginning is unlikely.
