Spanish press reports confirmed the absence of one of Barcelona’s players from today’s derby match against Espanyol in the 12th round of La Liga.
Barcelona leads the La Liga standings alone with 30 points, 6 points ahead of rival Real Madrid, who are in second place.
According to information from the Spanish newspaper “AS,” Eric Garcia’s absence from Barcelona’s training sessions effectively led to his exclusion from the Espanyol match.
The Spanish newspaper confirmed that Garcia did not train with Barcelona yesterday, indicating that his participation in the upcoming match against Espanyol is almost impossible.
The newspaper explained that Garcia was an integral part of Barcelona’s starting lineup until recently, as his last appearance was on October 20, when he suffered discomfort in his right leg muscle during the warm-up before Barcelona’s match against Sevilla in La Liga.
The Spanish newspaper reported that Eric Garcia has played nine matches with Barcelona in all competitions since the beginning of the current season, with most of his participation in the defensive midfield position.
It is noteworthy that Barcelona hosts its counterpart Espanyol in the Catalan derby this evening, as part of the matches of the twelfth round of La Liga.
