Barcelona lead the La Liga table this season with 33 points, 9 points ahead of their traditional rivals Real Madrid, who are second with 24 points.

Rivaldo, the former Brazilian and Barcelona star, shared his opinion on the Catalan team’s performance under German coach Hansi Flick in the current season’s matches.

Rivaldo stated in his comments yesterday, Sunday, after Barcelona’s 3-0 victory over Espanyol in the Catalan derby: “Things are going very well. Flick arrived and gave a lot of confidence and provided opportunities for the players from the academy, which is important, but it is still very early. Everything has just started, and they need more time.”

He continued: “When it is all over, we will be able to make a better analysis, but yes, it is working very well so far. I hope it continues like this until the end.”

Rivaldo added: “I think Barcelona have come a long way toward winning the La Liga title, which will be easier than the Champions League, which I see as more difficult. Anything can happen in football, but in the league you have many chances to be champions, while in the Champions League it is not impossible, but it is much more difficult, despite the presence of players with character.”

Regarding the player Barcelona needs, Rivaldo replied: “Barcelona needs a world-class scorer, and the best player for this role is the Swedish star Victor Gjokers, a player for Sporting Lisbon.”

Rivaldo concluded that Barcelona needs this type of player because, as we saw against Espanyol and even against Real Madrid, the Polish striker does not have the energy and vitality necessary to exert pressure, in addition to his lack of the final touch, which is evident from the number of big chances he wastes in front of goal.
