Barcelona are going through a historic period in terms of performance and results, breaking records in scoring goals that the Catalan team has not seen for a long time, thanks to the experienced German coach Hansi Flick.
Barcelona tops the La Liga table this season with 33 points, 9 points ahead of rivals Real Madrid in second place, with Real Madrid having a postponed match against Valencia.
According to information from “Radio Catalunya,” Barcelona’s management has begun to distance itself from its Dutch player Frenkie de Jong due to his recent behavior.
Frenkie de Jong recently returned from injury and played for a few minutes. He will have to make extra efforts if he wants to return to the starting lineup after the excellent performances of the trio Casado, Pedri, and Olmo.
The radio station indicated that Barcelona is awaiting Frenkie de Jong’s response regarding the renewal of his contract, but the club believes that the Dutchman is delaying his decision and avoiding discussions, so he can leave in the summer of 2026, when his contract expires.
The station explained that German coach Hansi Flick sees De Jong as one of the most important elements of his current project, but nevertheless, he has no guarantees regarding the player’s continuation with the team.
“Radio Catalunya” added that the relationship between De Jong and the board of directors has been tense since the club tried to force him to move to Manchester United in England.
