Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has faced pressure before, but after recent defeats to Barcelona and Milan, doubts have grown, and he must do a lot of work to remain as coach of the Merengues.
According to the latest reports, president Florentino Pérez was present at the training ground in Valdebebas and had lunch with Ancelotti. The Italian coach confirmed that he still believes he can turn things around.
The Spanish newspaper “Marca” reported that during the lunch, Pérez expressed to Ancelotti and other senior officials the need to see a reaction from the team on the pitch. However, he tried to calm the situation and show support for the Italian coach at that moment.
The newspaper also mentioned that Real Madrid has not yet contacted any other coach to replace Ancelotti. There is a belief that the situation is not as dire as it was under Julen Lopetegui or Rafael Benítez when the club decided to part ways with them mid-season.
However, if Real Madrid feels the need to act due to poor results, Ancelotti’s replacement for the rest of the season would likely come from within the club. Sporting director Santi Solari or Real Madrid Castilla’s youth team coach Raúl González could step in if necessary.
The newspaper concluded that if the team continues to stumble, falling further behind Barcelona in the league and failing to beat Liverpool at Anfield to salvage their situation in the Champions League, Pérez will have no choice but to make the difficult decision to dismiss Ancelotti.
