Barcelona will continue their strategy of signing players who can join the club for free, as they have done in the past with stars such as Eric Garcia, Ilkay Gundogan, Inigo Martinez, Sergio Agüero, and Marcos Alonso.
Hansi Flick has reached an agreement with Joan Laporta on three potential deals in line with this policy, which will enhance the team’s competitiveness and strengthen key positions.
According to information from the Spanish newspaper “El Nacional”, one of the prominent names on this list is Jonathan Tah, the central defender from Bayer Leverkusen, whose contract expires next June. Xabi Alonso has confirmed that he does not intend to renew it.
Several major clubs have expressed interest in signing him, with Real Madrid being the latest to show interest following the serious injury suffered by Éder Militão.
Flick believes Tah would be an excellent signing, especially since there would be no transfer fee, which could help compensate for the potential departure of Ronald Araujo or Andreas Christensen, both of whom are under contract at Barcelona until 2026.
Flick is also particularly interested in Joshua Kimmich, who has yet to sign a new contract with Bayern Munich and is said to be considering a new challenge outside the Bundesliga.
Although Marc Casado’s impressive performances have reduced the priority of signing Kimmich for Laporta and Deco, they are still interested in the player due to his outstanding skills and versatility, with the ability to play in multiple positions, whether in midfield or defense.
The final deal involves left-back Alphonso Davies, who is a key target for Flick to strengthen the Barcelona squad. Davies will be a free agent at the end of the season and is considered one of the best players in his position in the world.
If Laporta succeeds in completing these three signings, he will be able to strengthen Barcelona’s ranks with three world-class players without having to spend any money.
