In a new move, Juventus has emerged with a strong desire to sign a player from Barcelona. Among the names attracting significant interest outside the club, Andreas Christensen tops the list of players who do not seem to have a clear future at Barcelona, as his contract expires in 2026.
According to information from the Spanish newspaper “El Nacional”, although Christensen was one of the mainstays in Xavi Hernandez’s previous line-ups, there are many doubts about the role he may play under Hansi Flick.
With fierce competition in midfield and defense, it seems that the Danish player will be one of the lesser options in future line-ups, especially after his absence from the pitch at the beginning of the season due to a serious injury he suffered in the pre-season.
In his quest to find a solution, Joan Laporta and Deco have held talks with Christensen and his agent, but no final agreement has been reached yet.
At Barcelona, the Danish defender is not considered a key player, which makes the club ready to listen to offers to avoid his departure for free in the future.
The newspaper added that Juventus has decided to strengthen its ranks with another player from Barcelona, as it seeks to sign Christensen, who has extensive experience at the elite level and can play in several positions.
Thiago Motta believes that signing Christensen would be an ideal reinforcement, especially after Gleison Bremer, the team’s defensive leader, suffered a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament of his knee, which will keep the Brazilian out for the rest of the season.
Therefore, Juventus is seeking to sign a new central defender, and Christensen has been chosen as the most suitable option. The Italian club plans to submit an official offer in January.
Juventus has already begun its attempts to secure Christensen from Barcelona with an offer of 15 million euros as a fixed value, in addition to 10 million euros in variables. However, Deco refuses to allow the player to leave for anything less than 30 million euros and is demanding an increase in the financial offer.
