Press reports have revealed that Barcelona is set to part ways with a new player from its first-team squad, following a decision made by Joan Laporta, the club’s president.

Barcelona continues to face significant challenges with financial fair play regulations imposed by La Liga, which will compel the club to offload one of its key players in January.
According to information from “Sport”, the Catalan club has made a decision regarding the future of its Danish defender, Andreas Christensen. The player, who has been sidelined due to injury, is expected to return to action next January.

The Spanish newspaper reported that there is growing support within the club to include Christensen’s name on the list of departures for January 2025. His contract is set to expire the following year, and Barcelona has no plans to extend it, making his departure the most viable option.

Reports also suggest that Barcelona plans to offload Christensen in order to free up space in the squad to register Dani Olmo, a player the club is keen to include. It’s also worth noting that Christensen himself requested earlier in the season that Barcelona register his teammate Dani Olmo in his place due to his ongoing injury.
