Barcelona are going through their worst period this season in La Liga in terms of results, following a strong start. However, the Catalan team quickly reverted to its habits from recent years.
Barcelona’s defeat to Las Palmas in Montjuïc set off alarm bells within the club, revealing many of the flaws that were hidden behind the team’s impressive results in previous matches.
According to information from Spanish radio station “Radio Catalonia” in an interview with French legend Thierry Henry, he revealed his magical recipe for managing Barcelona in order to restore the team to its former position among Europe’s elite.
Henry commented on Barcelona’s shocking defeat against Las Palmas and their recent struggles in La Liga, stating: “This loss will cost Barcelona at the end of the season, and it might be a valuable gift for Real Madrid to reclaim the top spot and retain the La Liga title.”
Regarding the advice he would give to Barcelona’s management and German coach Hansi Flick, Henry said: “The beginning of reform in Barcelona starts with getting rid of 8 players from the first team, with Dutch player Frenkie de Jong at the forefront, as he believes he has not contributed anything to Barcelona since joining the team, and quickly signing a creative midfielder who can make a difference.”
He added that players such as Hector Bellerín, Gerard Piqué, Ansu Fati, and Eric García must leave, with stronger players contracted for the same positions, as the positions they play in are very sensitive, and they are unable to provide support or show up in crucial moments.
Henry continued: “Also, Ferran Torres should leave, as he doesn’t have the necessary level to represent Barcelona, and Iñaki Peña should be addressed, because Barça deserves a better goalkeeper than him.”
Henry concluded by saying it is necessary to move Koundé out of the team and return him to his position in central defense, as continuing to rely on him in the left-back position will lead to disasters for Barcelona this season.
