Barcelona’s winless run in La Liga extended to three games after they lost 2-1 to relegation-threatened Las Palmas at the Estadio Olímpico Lluís Companys. The Catalans’ poor form was compounded by the injury to Alejandro Balde in the first half.

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick criticised his side’s performance, suggesting they did not play well enough to win. Flick expressed his frustration at his team’s inability to capitalise on scoring opportunities, saying: “We did not play well. The team tried to get a good result, but today was not our day. We were not efficient and did not take our chances.”

Flick also admitted that his side’s inability to control the game and create scoring opportunities had been a problem in recent matches. “When we control games, we are able to play well and create chances, but when we don’t, that’s our problem,” he said.
According to information from the Spanish newspaper “El Nacional”, former Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez warned German coach Hansi Flick against starting the French star, Jules Koundé.

The newspaper added that Xavi believes Koundé is not suited to playing as a right-back, and if he is relied upon in that position, he could cause many losses for Barcelona this season. Xavi described his own mistake of using Koundé in this position as an “unforgivable mistake” and asked Flick not to repeat it to avoid the collapse of the team’s season, despite the strong start they had.
