Press reports revealed the Barcelona player who prompted the club’s management, led by Joan Laporta, to prioritize this deal in the next summer transfer window.
Barcelona suffered their third defeat in the Spanish League this season against Las Palmas, losing 2-0 at Montjuic Stadium in the most recent La Liga round.
According to information from the Catalan newspaper “Sport”, which reported that Joan Laporta has decided to focus more on signing a new striker, given Robert Lewandowski’s declining form.
The newspaper explained that the Polish forward will turn 37 next season, and it is natural for Barcelona to search for an alternative, with players like Haaland, Gjokeres, and Omar Marmoush on their radar.
The newspaper also indicated that the Egyptian star, whom the Catalan club sent scouts to observe against Midtjylland, is the most likely option, as his value will not be as high as that of players like the City and Sporting Lisbon stars.
The newspaper added that Barcelona’s president is frustrated with Lewandowski’s recent performances, as the Polish international has missed several easy scoring opportunities in front of goal, which Laporta fears could jeopardize the team’s season.
