The Spanish club Barcelona, led by president Joan Laporta and German coach Hansi Flick, has decided to abandon its pursuit of signing Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Instead, Barcelona has shown a preference for another player from one of the top clubs in the English Premier League, opting for Colombian winger Luis Diaz of Liverpool over the Spanish star Williams.
According to information from the Catalan newspaper “Sport”, Barcelona has expressed significant interest in Diaz, with coach Hansi Flick considering him a more suitable addition to strengthen the team. The newspaper also reports that Diaz himself has shown a strong desire to join Barcelona, and the club has a solid relationship with the player’s agents, which could facilitate negotiations.
The newspaper further mentions that Flick is exerting considerable pressure on Laporta and Deco to finalize the deal for Diaz in the next summer transfer window. The German coach believes that Diaz would provide a significant offensive boost to the team, elevating its performance with his versatility and continuously improving goal-scoring rate.
