In a move that raises questions, two Barcelona players are pinning their hopes on Dani Olmo not being registered, which would open the door for them to leave the team in January and join another club for free.

This option appears enticing to them, as it would allow them more regular playing time and a more prominent role—something they have been deprived of, as they were forced to accept secondary roles within the team, which they were not content with.
According to information from the Spanish newspaper “El Nacional”, the first player in this situation is Fermin Lopez, who was one of Xavi Hernández’s standout players last season.

Although he began the season as a substitute, Lopez managed to establish himself in the starting lineup, prompting Luis de la Fuente to call him up to the Spanish national team for the European Championship and the Olympic Games, where he played a key role in “La Roja’s” gold medal victory.

However, Lopez was forced to accept a secondary role at Barcelona, especially after the arrival of Dani Olmo, which seemed to make him the biggest loser in the signing. Despite interest from several top clubs, the former RB Leipzig player was seen as an essential part of the team, provided he doesn’t leave.

The same situation applies to Pablo Torre, who has been one of the players expected to leave Barcelona in the current winter transfer window due to his limited involvement in recent matches.

Although he had some opportunities earlier in the season and made a positive impression, Torre’s opportunities dwindled as other players regained fitness. His departure now seems almost certain, with speculation about his next destination circulating. However, these discussions have been put on hold due to the Dani Olmo situation, which could result in Torre staying under Hansi Flick’s system.

As for Olmo, it currently seems impossible for Barcelona to sign him, as optimism continues to fade. While Joan Laporta and Deco are still working towards their goal, all signs point to significant challenges in achieving it. What further complicates matters is that Dani Olmo may decide to leave Barcelona soon, although he also has the option to remain at the club, despite the possibility of being sidelined for an extended period.
