Real Madrid continues to assess its options at left-back, as some players’ form has declined this season. While the team’s overall performance has improved, there are growing concerns about the future of certain key players in the squad. With the club strongly interested in signing a new player, significant changes could take place in this position during the upcoming transfer window.
According to “Defensa Central”, Ferland Mendy delivered another disappointing performance for Real Madrid, despite being given a starting spot by Carlo Ancelotti against Valencia. Unfortunately, Mendy failed to meet the club’s expectations.
Once again, Mendy’s contribution in the match was minimal, he offered no offensive threat and was not as defensively effective as he had been in the past.
This season has been far from stellar for him, and within the club, questions are being raised about his future, particularly if a suitable offer comes next summer. The situation may change if the club successfully signs Alphonso Davies.
However, Ancelotti remains Mendy’s biggest supporter, believing that the French full-back can return to his previous form. The coach is confident that if Mendy regains his best performance, he can play a key role in strengthening the team’s defensive balance.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid still aims to complete the deal for Canadian full-back Alphonso Davies, who is now a free agent and able to negotiate directly with clubs.
Despite this, Davies has not completely dismissed Bayern Munich, as he is keen to hear all offers before making a final decision. Having spent many years with the Bavarian club, he wants to give them the opportunity to make their best offer.
So far, Davies’ representatives have confirmed that he has decided to sign for Real Madrid as a free agent, although they are aware that Bayern is still in the picture, making the Madrid management cautious in these negotiations. They do not want to take any definitive steps until the deal is officially sealed.
If Davies joins the team, it’s likely that either Ferland Mendy or Fran Garcia will be sold. Both players are valuable in the transfer market, and there may be an opportunity to use one of them to bring in another player or to improve the team’s financial standing.
Mendy is under contract with the club until 2027, but he is aware that if Davies arrives, he could find himself relegated to a backup role.
