Hansi Flick has been completely honest with the Barcelona player, telling him clearly that he must start looking for a new team for next season, perhaps even in the January transfer window. However, recent signings such as Dani Olmo and Pau Victor have affected the existing plans and could lead to changes.

According to information from the Spanish newspaper “El Nacional”, the German coach has lost patience with the Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong, who has wasted several opportunities to prove himself and show that he is still capable of being an important part of the coach’s plans.
In his match against modest Barbastro in the first round of the King’s Cup, de Jong was one of the new changes in the lineup and played the full 90 minutes, but he failed to make any positive impression.

He played a subdued match and went almost unnoticed, showing that he is still far from his best and has lost his self-confidence. His participation has not contributed to improving the team’s performance, which shows that he does not seem ready to be a regular in the team at the moment and does not deserve to be in the starting lineup compared to his teammates such as Gavi, Marc Casado, or Pedri Gonzalez.

Joan Laporta has been trying to get rid of de Jong for a long time and had a deal with Manchester United two years ago, but Xavi Hernandez stopped it at the last minute. However, it has now become difficult to offload de Jong, whose market value is constantly decreasing and who has lost the support of all those who have tried to talk to him about his future. Moreover, his high salary complicates matters even further, making it difficult to find any serious offers.

Barcelona are now hoping to receive a large financial compensation of between 50 and 60 million euros, in addition to getting rid of de Jong’s high salary, which is one of the highest in the dressing room, alongside Robert Lewandowski’s. But there is one obstacle that hinders Deco and Laporta’s plans: de Jong has a contract with Barcelona that runs until 2026, and he is not obliged to leave if he does not want to. Therefore, he has the option to wait another 12 months and leave for free. For this reason, he has been directly asked to leave as soon as possible, in the interests of the club, which cannot afford to lose the player without financial compensation.
