Barcelona managed to win the Spanish Super Cup after a crushing victory over traditional rival Real Madrid with a score of 5-2.
With this victory, Barcelona succeeded in winning their 15th Spanish Super Cup in history, compared to 13 for Real Madrid.
According to information received from the Spanish newspaper “El Nacional”, German coach Hansi Flick is very happy to win his first title with Barcelona, as well as the resounding victory and the wonderful level shown by all the Catalan players in the Spanish Super Cup final.
The newspaper added that the player who impressed Flick the most was the Uruguayan Ronald Araujo, who showed great quality after coming on as a substitute following the injury of defender Inigo Martinez.
Flick did not expect the level of quality and the impact the Uruguayan player provided immediately after his entry, as he frustrated Real Madrid’s attacking players and thwarted all their attempts to reduce the gap.
The newspaper indicated that Flick went to the player after the match and told him that he would not leave Barcelona’s starting lineup after this historic performance against Real Madrid.
Araujo will take the place of Spanish defender Inigo Martinez starting from the upcoming matches, as Flick believes that Coparci, Araujo, Balde, and Kounde will be Barcelona’s best defensive quartet until the end of the season.
