British press reports confirmed today, Saturday, that Real Madrid is seeking to make an exchange deal with Chelsea during the current winter transfer window.
Real Madrid currently leads the La Liga standings with 49 points, 7 points ahead of traditional rival Barcelona, which sits in third place. Coach Carlo Ancelotti’s team is preparing for a decisive match against the French side Brest tomorrow to secure qualification for the next stage of the Champions League.
According to the British newspaper “Daily Mail”, the Merengue management is aiming to sign Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez in an exchange deal that would involve the transfer of Aurelien Tchouameni to the Blues.
The report also revealed that Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid’s coach, hopes that signing Fernandez, who is considered a key player under coach Enzo Maresca, will help revive the team’s European hopes and ensure they win the Spanish League title.
The British newspaper highlighted that the deal will not involve any financial sums for either team, according to the current plan.
Tchouameni, 24, has been criticized and booed by Real Madrid fans for his performance this season. Ancelotti has deployed Tchouameni as a centre-back this season to make up for the numerical shortage in the back line.
