The Barcelona leaders asked German coach Hansi Flick about the exclusion of one of the stars of the Catalan club’s first football team from the starting lineup.
Flick gave the Barcelona players a three-day break from team training after the big 4-1 win over Sevilla in the 23rd round of La Liga.
The atmosphere inside the Barcelona dressing room is still tense due to the exclusion of goalkeeper Iñaki Peña from the starting lineup, after coach Hansi Flick chose to rely on Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny.
According to information from the Spanish newspaper “Sport”, which confirmed that Barcelona’s leaders asked Hansi Flick about the reason for excluding Iñaki Peña from the starting lineup without any clear explanation, and inquired if there was something else that they were unaware of.
The newspaper indicated that the team leaders were aware that the issue had nothing to do with the incident that occurred after he arrived late before one of the matches, as several players in the dressing room had done the same without facing any consequences this season.
The newspaper concluded that the Barcelona players respect Iñaki Peña greatly and asked the German coach to pardon him and reinstate him to the squad, especially since he performed admirably when the team needed him.
