Barcelona have decided to stay away from potential signings of Martín Zubimendi and Joshua Kimmich, as they are no longer a priority for the club at the moment.

Zubimendi has lost interest after his negotiations with Arsenal and Real Madrid were revealed, and Joan Laporta and Deco do not believe it is necessary to pay 60 million euros for his services. As for Kimmich, there are doubts about his move to Camp Nou, and despite Hans-Dieter Flick’s insistence on signing him, the high financial demands of the player and his agent have led to the deal being postponed.

In light of these circumstances, and according to information from the Spanish newspaper “El Nacional”, players who occupy his position, such as Marc Casado and Frenkie de Jong, continue to perform well, making Barcelona less interested in signing a player for that role.

Marc Casado’s performance in his first season has also been excellent, and despite his recent decline in form, the team still has confidence in his abilities, especially since he is still only 21 years old. In contrast, De Jong has maintained his consistent form, although his future with the club is unclear after his contract expires in 2026.

However, Barcelona are in no hurry, as they have another trump card in the squad. The club has high hopes for Marc Bernal, who they see as a future star in midfield and a great potential replacement for Sergio Busquets. Despite suffering a serious injury that kept him out for a while, Bernal has started the season in impressive form and has been one of coach Hansi Flick’s favorites.

Believing in his ability, Laporta and Deco have offered Bernal an extension to his current contract, which expires in just over 12 months, hoping to secure a new deal until 2029. They are optimistic that the player will regain his form after recovering from his injury.
