Barcelona is preparing for a crucial and decisive match in the race to win the La Liga title when they visit Las Palmas tonight, after the Catalan team suffered a surprising defeat at home to this team in the first round.

In a separate context, the Spanish newspaper “AS” revealed a new development that brings Barcelona closer to signing Colombian winger Luis Diaz from Liverpool in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Barcelona received a significant boost in its efforts to strengthen the squad, which provides Portuguese sporting director Deco with a fresh opportunity in the market, by reaching the salary cap of 463.642 million euros, an increase of 37 million euros compared to the previous assessment.

The newspaper reported that Luis Diaz’s agents have already contacted Barcelona after rumors spread that Deco intends to bring him to Camp Nou next season.

Diaz’s agents wanted to negotiate with Barcelona and explore whether it would be possible for the Catalan club to reach an agreement with Liverpool to acquire the Colombian international player’s contract.

Deco sees Luis Diaz as a very suitable addition to German coach Hansi Flick’s squad, noting that the player currently does not wish to renew his contract with Liverpool management, and his current deal expires in June 2027.
