Barcelona are still in the race for the league title this season, but Hansi Flick is making plans for the future and preparing for next season. Within these plans, three players seem to have been excluded from the team’s calculations.
According to information from the Spanish newspaper “El Nacional,” the German coach does not rely on Ansu Fati, Pablo Torre, and Iñaki Peña, who have lost their place in the team and could be transferred during the summer transfer market.
Ansu Fati was one of Barcelona’s most prominent hopes for the future, but it seems that his time at the club is coming to an end. After a loan spell at Brighton, where his progress was affected by injuries, Flick made it clear that he does not rely on him for next season. The winger has failed to regain his previous level, and with fierce competition in attack from players such as Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and Ferran Torres, his future is far from Camp Nou.
Another case that raises attention is that of Pablo Torre. The young midfielder, who was seen as one of the brightest talents in Spanish football when he joined Barcelona, has not found a place in Flick’s squad this season.
After a short spell at Girona, where he also failed to establish himself, Torre has disappeared from the team’s plans. In his position, Gavi, Pedri, and Dani Olmo are considered untouchable, and Flick prefers Fermin Lopez over Torre.
Barcelona are planning to sell Torre in the summer, although he could be loaned out again. Teams such as Real Sociedad and Villarreal have shown interest in him. His market value is estimated at around €10-15 million.
The latest player to be excluded from Flick’s plans is Iñaki Peña. The goalkeeper, who was considered a replacement for Ter Stegen, has completely lost the coach’s confidence.
With Wojciech Szczesny’s contract renewed until 2026, Peña’s future is now settled. He is no longer the second-choice goalkeeper in the squad, and he has already asked to leave in search of playing time.
With these three players out of Flick’s plans, Barcelona hopes to use their sales to strengthen other key positions in the team. The German coach has already made his decision, and there is no going back: Ansu Fati, Pablo Torre, and Iñaki Peña are more out of the team than in it.
