The player who was valued at 75 million euros offers himself to Barcelona as a replacement for Lewandowski, but Flick flatly rejects him

Barcelona are preparing for a tough La Liga clash against their Basque counterparts, Real Sociedad, at the Montjuïc Stadium in Catalonia in the 26th round of the Spanish League.

Barcelona are at the top of the Spanish League standings with 54 points, while their traditional rivals, Real Madrid, are in second place with the same number of points, trailing on goal difference.

According to information from the Spanish newspaper “El Nacional,” the future of Darwin Núñez remains unclear. The Uruguayan striker arrived at Liverpool in the summer of 2022 as one of the English club’s major signings, with Liverpool paying 75 million euros to Benfica to secure his services. However, his performance in the Premier League has not met expectations, and with the appointment of Arne Slot as the team’s coach, his role has been significantly reduced.

Recently, Núñez’s entourage has started to explore other options, as the player has been offered to Barcelona, which is looking to strengthen its attacking line for next season. This is especially important given the need to give Robert Lewandowski, who will turn 37 in August, some rest.

In light of this situation, Núñez’s agents have begun exploring other possibilities for him at major clubs, with Barcelona emerging as one of the suitable alternatives. The Catalan club needs a new striker to compete with Lewandowski next season, as the Polish forward will not be able to play regularly, and his future at the club in the medium term is uncertain.

The newspaper indicated that although Darwin Núñez has many distinctive qualities as a striker, his potential move to Barcelona does not appeal to the German coach, who sees Ferran Torres as a better option than the Uruguayan striker.

Flick is looking for a reliable and effective striker in front of goal, but Núñez has shown some inconsistencies in this aspect during his time in the Premier League.
