The Catalan newspaper “Sport” revealed that Brazilian star Neymar Jr. has received a final deadline from Barcelona officials amid speculation about the possibility of re-signing him.
The newspaper stated that Neymar is eager to return to Barcelona in the summer transfer window and is willing to sign a contract with a reduced salary in preparation for the 2026 World Cup.
The newspaper, which is close to Barcelona’s management but did not reveal its sources, quoted a message from the Catalan club to Neymar: “Score 15 goals with Santos first, and then we will consider signing you.”
The report also indicated that German coach Hansi Flick has given Barcelona’s sporting director Deco the green light to communicate with the Brazilian star, but only if Neymar meets this condition and scores 15 goals with Santos by the end of the current season.
Neymar returned to his former club, Santos, Brazil, in January after a short stint with Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia due to frequent injuries.
The 33-year-old won the Champions League with Barcelona in 2015 but moved to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 for a still-record fee of €222 million. Neymar Jr.’s contract with Santos expires in June, and he has scored three goals in seven games since his return to the Brazilian club.
