Barcelona are preparing for a decisive match against Benfica tomorrow in the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 at the Montjuïc Stadium, after securing a narrow 1-0 victory in the first leg.

The match will be crucial for qualifying for the quarter-finals, as Barcelona looks to maintain its slim advantage and progress further in the continental tournament.

According to information from the Spanish newspaper ‘‘Defensa Central‘‘, Barcelona president Joan Laporta took the opportunity to inquire about the situation of Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, expressing his belief that Lunin is a talented goalkeeper with a bright future ahead.

In response, Lunin’s agent, Jorge Mendes, confirmed that the goalkeeper has renewed his contract with Real Madrid until 2030. However, Mendes also stated that the club would listen to offers in the coming seasons if Lunin decides to leave. Despite this, Mendes emphasized that Real Madrid would never sell Lunin to their traditional rival, Barcelona, even though the goalkeeper is contemplating a move.

Andriy Lunin, 26, is looking to secure his future at Real Madrid and hopes to inherit Thibaut Courtois’ starting position once the latter concludes his career at the club.

Despite the fierce competition with Courtois, widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, Lunin showed last season that he can perform at a high level, making him one of the most promising goalkeepers for the future.

The newspaper also reported that the Ukrainian goalkeeper is frustrated with the limited opportunities he has had at Real Madrid and has started considering a move away. However, if Lunin requests to leave, president Florentino Pérez is unlikely to stand in his way, even if it means a transfer to Barcelona.
