From an untouchable player in Barcelona’s starting lineup to a sidelined player who doesn’t get any chances to play in matches

One of Barcelona’s first-team stars is close to leaving the Blaugrana during the upcoming summer transfer window, at the end of the current season.
There is no doubt that players’ desire for regular playing time often drives them to look for new opportunities, especially if they are not getting the role they desire at their current clubs.

Barcelona goalkeeper Iñaki Peña is fed up with his situation at the Catalan club. After what was supposed to be his big chance to become Barça’s first-choice goalkeeper, he was left on the bench in favor of Szczesny.
Peña had been Barcelona’s first-choice goalkeeper since Marc-André ter Stegen’s injury this season, but after several matches, Barcelona coach Hansi Flick decided to include Wojciech Szczesny in the starting lineup.

Catalan newspaper Sport reported that Real Betis and Celta Vigo are interested in signing Barcelona goalkeeper Iñaki Peña next summer. It’s worth noting that the Spanish goalkeeper’s contract with Barcelona expires in the summer of 2026, and given his current position with the team, it appears he will leave in the next summer transfer window.
