Following Barcelona’s resounding 4-1 victory over Girona, an unexpected development sparked much controversy within the team’s dressing room.
Barcelona moved to the top of La Liga with 66 points, three points ahead of second-place Real Madrid and seven ahead of Atletico Madrid.
According to reports from the Spanish newspaper ‘‘El Nacional‘‘, star player Robert Lewandowski, who scored two goals and was aiming for a hat-trick, expressed his displeasure with the actions of his teammate, young left-back Balde.
Balde, who came on as a second-half substitute, had several opportunities to pass to Lewandowski, who was in a good position to score additional goals. However, the young player handled the chances with extreme selfishness. These passes could have helped Lewandowski complete his hat-trick, but instead, Balde wasted the opportunities due to his individual decisions.
This behavior angered Lewandowski, and he confronted his teammate immediately after the match. He expressed his frustration over Balde’s selfishness, which prevented him from scoring more goals. Following the incident, Lewandowski demanded that coach Hansi Flick immediately exclude Balde from the squad, particularly for upcoming matches.
Once considered one of the team’s most important players, Balde is now facing criticism from Barcelona’s star player, highlighting the impact his selfish behavior has had on the team’s collective spirit. This could create tension within the dressing room, especially as the team continues its pursuit of more victories this season.
