The German coach Hansi Flick is not content with the current stars in his squad and is pushing Barcelona’s management to bring in more top-tier talent in the upcoming transfer window. One of his main objectives is to reinforce the attacking line, as he believes it lacks sufficient options for rotation, especially in crucial matches. Additionally, several players who do not fit into Flick’s plans may leave the team in the summer, including Ansu Fati, Pablo Torre, and Pau Víctor.

However, according to reports from the Spanish newspaper ‘‘El Nacional‘‘, it’s clear that Flick is not looking for secondary players. If Joan Laporta and Deco decide to make a signing, it must be a key player, one of the best in the world. For that reason, Flick has placed a number of exceptional talents on the negotiation table, including Luis Díaz and Jamal Musiala. But the player he is most insistent on signing is Florian Wirtz, the Bayer Leverkusen star who Flick particularly admires.

Flick has closely followed Wirtz’s development, having given him his first cap with the German national team. After suffering a serious knee injury nearly three years ago, one that nearly ended his exceptional potential. Wirtz has proven that he has overcome that challenge and has become one of the best midfielders in the world. With strong support from Xabi Alonso, who has played a key role in his career, Wirtz is no longer just a promising talent but a proven force in football.

It is logical that many top European clubs are interested in signing Wirtz, and Flick hopes that Barcelona will pursue him in the near future. Although Barcelona already has players like Dani Olmo and Fermín López in the attacking midfield role, Wirtz remains the top priority for the 59-year-old coach. Flick has asked Laporta and Deco to make a significant effort to secure his signing as soon as possible.

However, Barcelona fully understands that signing Wirtz would be an extremely difficult task. The deal is expected to exceed €130 million, making it a massive investment, especially given the club’s current financial situation. Furthermore, competition for Wirtz’s signature is intense, with clubs like Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain holding a strong advantage, which further complicates Barcelona’s pursuit.
