Gavi and Pedri González have already received news of the departure of one of their closest friends in the Barcelona dressing room, who has decided to pack his bags and move on to a new chapter. The player believes the time has come for a different adventure, and nothing they say can change his mind. He considers this the best decision for his career, despite feeling very comfortable at Barcelona.

According to reports from the Spanish newspaper ‘‘El Nacional‘‘, Eric García is approaching his situation within the team with a realistic mindset. He knows that his chances of regular playing time and consistent involvement are slim, given the fierce competition for his position. He is currently the last option in the backline behind Ronald Araújo, Iñigo Martínez, and Pau Cubarsí. Things could become even more complicated with Andreas Christensen’s full return to fitness and the potential arrival of Jonathan Tah next summer.

The situation is no better in midfield. Despite his solid performances whenever Hansi Flick has given him opportunities and his proven reliability as a backup for Frenkie de Jong, the emergence of promising young talents such as Marc Casadó and Marc Bernal, who are expected to be promoted next season, further diminishes García’s chances of securing a spot. Rather than remain on the fringes, the player prefers to leave and embrace a new challenge.

Although García has always dreamed of succeeding at Barcelona, he is likely to depart following a season that could go down in history, as the team remains in contention for all available trophies. However, the former Girona and Manchester City defender prioritizes consistent playing time and the feeling of being a valued contributor, something Flick cannot guarantee. This has led him to seriously consider the growing number of offers he has received, fueled by his recent strong performances.

Eric García has managed to silence much of the criticism he previously faced, replacing it with increasing praise that has attracted the interest of several clubs. He has personally informed a number of his close teammates of his decision, most notably Pedri and Gavi—with whom he shares a strong bond, both at Barcelona and within the Spanish national team.
