Real Madrid, under Pérez’s leadership, is aiming to turn things around next season after a forgettable year for the royal team in terms of results and performance.
In this context, the Spanish club has set its sights on Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyökeres, with plans to sign him during the upcoming summer transfer window in order to rebuild the squad for the new season.
Sky Germany reported that Real Madrid has entered the race to sign the Sporting striker, who is enjoying a historic season with his team, scoring a remarkable number of goals.
The 26-year-old player has caught the attention of Los Blancos, putting Real Madrid in competition with several other clubs to secure his signature, including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United.
Bayern Munich had previously considered signing Gyökeres before withdrawing from the race due to the high price required to acquire the player. The signing of Gyökeres is expected to cost Real Madrid, or any other interested club, between 60 and 70 million euros in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Sky Sporting reported that Arsenal is currently the favorite to sign the lethal striker in the near future.
