Barcelona punished their guests, Real Madrid, with a painful 4–3 comeback win in the El Clásico match that took place on Sunday evening, in the 35th round of the Spanish League, at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium.
This victory placed Barcelona at the top of the table with 82 points—seven full points ahead of second-place Real Madrid—with only three rounds remaining in the season.
According to reports from the Spanish newspaper Defensa Central, Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti was deeply angry after the painful defeat to Barcelona and the loss of the La Liga title.
Ancelotti harshly criticized Real Madrid’s disastrous trio—Lucas Vázquez, Fran García, and Tchouaméni—holding them responsible for the defeat and the team’s poor performance during the match.
Ancelotti stated that he had expected this trio to deliver a strong performance to help rescue the team’s season, but he was left deeply disappointed. He expressed his intention to ask the club’s management to part ways with them next season to avoid jeopardizing the success of the incoming coach.
What made matters worse was Ancelotti’s frustration with the poor performance of young star Arda Güler. He lashed out at the player, saying:
“You keep asking to start, and when I give you the chance, you turn out to be the worst player on the pitch… what a weak player you are!”
However, the unexpected moment came when Ancelotti went to console Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé, who had been fighting alone on the pitch. He told him in front of everyone:
“If everyone played with your spirit and passion, the result would have been different… and you’ll win the Ballon d’Or in the coming years.”
