Press reports have revealed the identity of the player who asked Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti not to participate in today’s El Clásico against Barcelona in La Liga.
Real Madrid suffered a 4-3 defeat despite having taken a two-goal lead in the match held at Montjuïc Stadium, as part of Matchday 35 of La Liga.
According to information from the Spanish newspaper Marca, Real Madrid is now awaiting Rodrygo Goes’ decision regarding his future with the club. The report added that the club has effectively placed the decision in Rodrygo’s hands, particularly with the Club World Cup approaching and the expected arrival of new head coach Xabi Alonso.
Marca noted that Rodrygo’s substitution in the Copa del Rey final dealt a heavy blow to his morale, which also influenced his absence from El Clásico. The Brazilian reportedly informed Ancelotti that he lacked the motivation to play.
The newspaper further stated that Rodrygo no longer feels valued at Real Madrid, especially as attention within the club is increasingly focused on Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham, and Vinícius Júnior. As a result, the winger is now seriously considering a move away from the Santiago Bernabéu in search of a new challenge.
