After a season that fell short of expectations, during which Manchester City disappointed on multiple fronts, Pep Guardiola has already begun reshaping the team for next season. Despite the constellation of stars at his disposal, the Catalan coach believes that certain areas require urgent reinforcement to return the team to the top of both domestic and European competitions.
In light of this, Spanish coach Pep Guardiola, manager of Manchester City, is targeting Barcelona star Dani Olmo during the summer transfer window.
Olmo has performed very well in La Liga this season and has played a crucial role in Barcelona’s pursuit of the title.
According to a report published by Football Espana, Guardiola hopes the club will succeed in signing Dani Olmo this summer to fill the creative playmaker role behind Haaland, following the departure of Kevin De Bruyne.
Manchester City had also shown interest in German midfielder Florian Wirtz to take on this role, but the young talent now appears likely to join Bayern Munich in the summer.
Olmo’s market value is estimated at €60 million, and it remains to be seen what his next move will be should he leave Barcelona.
The 27-year-old attacking midfielder is under contract with the Catalan club until June 2030.
Olmo joined Barcelona from RB Leipzig in August 2024 and has since made 36 appearances across all competitions, scoring 11 goals and providing 6 assists.
