Real Madrid has begun to set its sights on the future, especially after Carlo Ancelotti officially announced his departure from the club, scheduled for May 25.
The Italian coach stated:
“As of May 26, I will be the coach of the Brazilian national team. I am still the coach of Real Madrid, and I want to conclude this final stage of the adventure in the best possible way. I know everyone will be interested in what I do next, but for the remaining days, my focus is entirely on finishing this wonderful journey.”
This announcement marks the beginning of a new chapter for the club, as Xabi Alonso has already started laying the groundwork for the future and shaping his squad ahead of the upcoming Club World Cup.
According to information from the Spanish newspaper Defensa Central, one of the key issues currently under discussion is the future of Rodrygo Goes, whose complete absence from the most recent El Clásico raised many questions—especially amid ongoing speculation regarding his future.
Xabi Alonso made sure to call the Brazilian forward to check on his mental state and clarify his stance on staying with the team. Rodrygo’s response was clear:
“Sir, I’ll stay at Real Madrid if you want me to. My dream is to continue here…”
This call was an informal and preliminary contact, reflecting the player’s desire to remain under the club’s new leadership.
Although Rodrygo has expressed a current willingness to stay, his position might change over time—particularly following the Club World Cup.
The Real Madrid management believes that the final decision will rest with Xabi Alonso, though they are also aware that a potential sale of Rodrygo could bring in a substantial sum to boost the club’s finances.
