Guti appeared during the broadcast of the Real Madrid vs. Mallorca match, where his comments — known for their directness and sharp analysis, particularly concerning Real Madrid players — once again drew attention. This time, he went as far as assigning “homework” to Xabi Alonso, the club’s coach-in-waiting.
Guti highlighted Jude Bellingham, expressing his view that the player has not yet returned to his previous level. He stated, “Bellingham needs to be more offensive, like he was last season. Right now, I see him as somewhat ambiguous.”
Although Bellingham, who wears the number 5 shirt for Real Madrid, has not performed at his peak this season — showing a noticeable drop compared to his debut year — he remains an important part of the club’s future and, according to Guti, deserves another chance.
In Guti’s view, Xabi Alonso must focus on restoring the best version of the English midfielder, as the team badly needs his attacking contributions.
Guti also spoke about Kylian Mbappé and Arda Güler, praising the Bondy-born star for what he described as a run of peak form. Commenting on how defenders respond to him, he said: “He terrifies defenders. The moment he turns his body toward goal, they back off instead of trying to steal the ball.”
Regarding Arda Güler, Guti emphasized the young Turkish player’s exceptional vision and passing ability, noting: “He has a special eye for decisive passes. There’s clear chemistry between him and Mbappé — he’s the best at that.”
Guti’s praise carries extra weight given his own legacy as a master of line-breaking passes. His comments are particularly meaningful to Turkish fans, many of whom view him as a creative inspiration — making his endorsement of Güler all the more significant.
