With Xabi Alonso officially taking over as Real Madrid coach, a new era begins at the Santiago Bernabéu, led by one of the club’s former players who has proven his worth with Bayer Leverkusen. While Alonso works to reshape the team according to his own tactical vision, a surprising name has emerged: a former star who left the Whites last summer, and the Spanish coach seems to see him as a missing piece in his new project.
In the same context, Radio Marca reported that Xabi Alonso, the new Real Madrid coach, has asked the club’s management to bring back young Argentine Nico Paz. Nico Paz, 20, left Real Madrid in the summer of 2024 to join Italian side Como.
Nico Paz impressed in his first season with Como, appearing in 34 matches, scoring six goals, and providing nine assists. Real Madrid moved early to meet Xabi Alonso’s demands by officially signing Dejan Huijsen and closing in on full-back Carreras, with the deal for Trent Alexander-Arnold already sealed.
Radio Marca reported that Xabi Alonso also asked Los Blancos to re-sign Nico Paz after his impressive performances with Como. Real Madrid has a clause in Nico Paz’s contract with Como that allows them to re-sign him this summer for a fee of just €8 million.
Radio Marca added that Xabi Alonso wants Nico Paz with Real Madrid for the Club World Cup, so the club will move to complete the deal requested by the Spanish coach.
