Real Madrid’s management is reportedly preparing to hijack one of the key transfer targets pursued by their historic and eternal rivals, Barcelona, during the current summer transfer window.

The club is actively seeking to bolster its squad with high-caliber talent to maintain competitiveness in the title race and maximize its chances of securing silverware across all competitions each season.

According to the Spanish newspaper Marca, Real Madrid is seriously considering a move for Spanish winger Nico Williams. The club’s leadership views the potential signing as part of a broader strategy to increase the presence of domestic talent within the squad. The recent acquisition of Huijsen and reports of an imminent deal for Benfica left-back Álvaro Carreras further underline this approach.

Williams, 22, is currently under contract with Athletic Bilbao until the summer of 2027. His release clause is set at €58 million. It’s worth noting that the talented winger was strongly linked with a move to Barcelona last summer. While he chose to remain with the Basque club, he reportedly expressed to Barcelona officials that he had no objections to joining the Catalan giants.
