Real Madrid has announced the appointment of Spanish coach Xabi Alonso to lead the team next season, with a contract extending until 2028. Alonso hopes to guide Real Madrid to more titles and make up for the disappointing season the team endured.
Florentino Pérez hopes that choosing Alonso proves to be the right decision, as the club cannot afford to experience a similar setback again.
In the same context, Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso stated that Brazilian forward Rodrygo is a fantastic player and will be important for the team.
Rodrygo’s name had been linked with a potential move away from Real Madrid during the summer transfer window, with media reports suggesting that Alonso would rely primarily on Vinícius Júnior and Kylian Mbappé in attack.
In his press conference, Alonso said:
“Have I spoken with Rodrygo? He’s a Real Madrid player, and we will speak with all the players because they deserve that. He’s a fantastic player, and we will need him.”
Regarding how to integrate Vinícius and Mbappé, he commented:
“Vinícius and Mbappé are a blessing, and we have to make the most of them. I have ideas, and I want them to feel those ideas.”
He added:
“When there is clear communication about what we want, things will work out. That’s my job. They are top-class players—and so are others in the squad.”
He continued:
“Managing the group? I need to stay close to them. This communication is essential so I can understand what’s going on and what each player needs. I know my responsibilities, and I know that I love being around them.”
