Legendary star Luka Modrić has bid farewell to Real Madrid, playing his final match at the Santiago Bernabéu and bringing an end to a remarkable 13-year journey with the club.
As the summer transfer window approaches, the future of the Croatian midfielder has garnered significant attention, especially after he publicly announced his intention to leave the team following the upcoming Club World Cup.
According to the French outlet Foot Mercato, Modrić had initially hoped to stay at Real Madrid until the age of 40, but changed his mind after speaking with the club’s incoming head coach, Xabi Alonso.
Now, Modrić is exploring new opportunities, with the United States emerging as a preferred destination for family reasons, particularly with Inter Miami expressing strong interest in securing his signature.
Saudi club Al-Nassr has also entered the race, having submitted an official offer for the veteran midfielder. Modrić has reportedly held discussions with his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, who shared insights about the ambitions and scope of the Saudi football project.
Meanwhile, Al-Ettifaq, another Saudi club, is keen on bringing Modrić to the Kingdom, while several Brazilian clubs are also keeping a close eye on his situation, aligning with the Brazilian league’s strategy of attracting high-profile international talent.
