After a season that fell short of the expectations of its fans, Real Madrid is looking to regroup and significantly strengthen its squad ahead of the upcoming campaign. The Royal team ended the season without a title, having lost the Spanish league to their arch-rivals, suffered an early exit from the Copa del Rey, and endured a painful elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Arsenal in the quarter-finals.
These results, considered disappointing given the club’s history and achievements, have prompted the sporting management, led by Florentino Pérez, to act quickly in the transfer market, aiming to build a more solid and balanced team capable of reclaiming domestic and European prestige.
Real Madrid is targeting young English star Miles Lewis-Skelly from Arsenal.
If the deal goes through, Skelly would become the third English player in Real Madrid’s current squad, following Jude Bellingham and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Skelly is among the candidates to reinforce Real Madrid’s left-back position after the club failed to secure a deal for Alphonso Davies. A report published by Football Espana indicated that Real Madrid is closely monitoring the progress of negotiations between Arsenal and Skelly over a potential new contract.
Talks between Arsenal and the young player are reportedly not progressing well, which is encouraging Real Madrid to push forward with a potential signing.
Skelly’s current market value stands at €45 million, and it remains to be seen what his future holds if he decides to leave Arsenal.
The 18-year-old is a versatile left-back who was promoted to Arsenal’s first team in July 2024.
He has made 39 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
