Better than Wirtz and Rodri… Florentino Pérez moves strongly to sign a legendary midfielder to succeed Luka Modrić

It is said that a significant step has been taken, reflecting what Real Madrid has done in recent weeks. After a difficult season and with the Club World Cup approaching, the club has made the necessary arrangements. Following the announcement of Xabi Alonso as the new first-team coach, the signing of Dean Huysen was also confirmed. This is not the only move, as more surprises are expected, and Real Madrid is determined not to give up.

The primary goal is to strengthen the defense, which has suffered numerous setbacks, requiring significant changes to the team’s daily operations. In this context, the club is also eager to finalize the deal for Benfica left-back Álvaro Carreras as soon as possible. However, the work does not stop there, extending to the midfield as the club seeks a replacement for Luka Modric, who will not continue with Real Madrid next season.

According to reports from the Spanish newspaper Defensa Central, Real Madrid’s interest in Florian Wirtz and Rodri has been circulating in recent months, but recent information indicates that the club has been focusing on Vitinha for weeks. The Portuguese player delivered a remarkable performance in the Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan (5-0), once again proving his importance to coach Luis Enrique. Vitinha joined Paris two years ago in a deal worth just over €40 million, and his former club Porto had long anticipated his departure.

Although Florian Wirtz and Rodri Hernández have been linked with Real Madrid, the club’s interest centers more on Wirtz. The Bayer Leverkusen midfielder is valued at a very high €140 million, while Rodri has recently recovered from a serious knee injury, and Real Madrid’s management has shown no official intention of signing him. The two players represent different options: Wirtz plays more as an attacking midfielder, while Rodri is a defensive midfielder. Chamartín is seeking a player similar to Modric, known for leadership and exceptional passing from the heart of the midfield.

Vitinha’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain runs until 2029, making it difficult to entice him away at this time, especially given the strained relations between Real Madrid and the French club following Kylian Mbappé’s arrival last summer. Mbappé’s transfer remains a concern for Nasser Al-Khelaifi, making it unlikely that this situation will change due to Vitinha’s involvement.

Nonetheless, Real Madrid has not forgotten Vitinha, who remains on their radar. In case of an urgent need for a central midfielder with excellent passing, control, and vision, the preferred option this summer is Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller. Nicknamed “Ugly Kroos” in Germany, he bears a striking resemblance in style to the legendary midfielder who recently retired with his fifteenth European Cup. Stiller, who is just 24 years old, is valued at around €40 million.
