The summer transfer market remains active, with Real Madrid moving swiftly to finalize the signings of Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold, both of whom are scheduled to be officially presented this week — on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively.
However, the club is not ruling out further signings during or after the Club World Cup. Several players have been linked with Los Blancos in recent weeks, including Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams, although signing him currently appears relatively difficult.
Meanwhile, according to Sky Sport Germany, Bayern Munich is also looking to strengthen its squad for next season after clinching the Bundesliga title. Vincent Kompany’s side is particularly focused on reinforcing the left wing, especially with Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola out injured following the recent international break. Nico Williams is also being considered as a potential option by the Bavarians.
In a statement to Sky journalist Florian Plettenberg, it was revealed:
“Bradley Barcola and Nico Williams are among Bayern Munich’s targets, but the team is still evaluating several profiles. The club needs more time to make clear decisions, particularly regarding the futures of Leroy Sané and Franck Ribéry, who have been central to the team’s success. However, due to their age and high salaries, they could soon depart the Allianz Arena.”
In addition to Barcola and Williams, Bayern Munich is exploring other options, including Kaoru Mitoma (Brighton & Hove Albion), Rafael Leão (AC Milan), and Cody Gakpo (Liverpool). Sporting director Max Eberl is determined to build a competitive squad capable of reclaiming the UEFA Champions League title, which the club has not won in five years.
As for Real Madrid, despite reports from Athletic Bilbao, Defensa Central claims that Nico Williams has never been a top priority for the club. The Pamplona-born winger is unlikely to secure a place in a squad already boasting left-wing talent such as Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Júnior, and Rodrygo Goes — although Rodrygo’s future remains uncertain.
According to Marca, the player has expressed his desire to stay, but everything will depend on his performance in the Club World Cup.
Real Madrid is also aiming to bolster its defense for next season, despite recent setbacks in Álvaro Carreras’s potential move from Benfica. The Lisbon club registered Carreras as a left-back for the Club World Cup, complicating a possible transfer to the Santiago Bernabéu. The deal may have to wait until July 1 to go through.
In addition, following the completion of the Franco Mastantuono signing, Real Madrid appears to have reignited its interest in Real Sociedad midfielder Martín Zubimendi. Coach Xabi Alonso reportedly sees him as the ideal successor to Toni Kroos in the heart of midfield.
