Real Madrid strives to strengthen its squad with the best available players in every transfer window, continuing its relentless pursuit of domestic and continental dominance. The Royal Club is never satisfied with anything less than the top, which keeps it at the center of the transfer market as it tracks the most prominent rising talents and promising stars.
In this context, Spanish press reports have confirmed that Real Madrid is interested in signing French winger Rayan Cherki from Lyon, following the advice of club legend Zinedine Zidane.
The reports added that Zidane is disappointed by Manchester City’s impending signing of Cherki, as he had hoped to see the young talent play for Real Madrid.
The 21-year-old has a contract with the French club until the summer of 2026 and has attracted interest from several European clubs due to his outstanding performances this season.
The Spanish newspaper Sport estimated Cherki’s market value at around €30 million, although his actual transfer fee could be significantly higher given Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in the player.
Furthermore, the reports note that Real Madrid believes the French star fits perfectly with the club’s vision. Not only is he young and talented, but he would also join an expanding group of French players at the club. However, a decline in Pérez’s influence reportedly paved the way for Manchester City to secure the signing.
It is worth mentioning that Cherki has participated in 34 matches across all competitions for Lyon this season, scoring 8 goals and providing 18 assists.
