Real Madrid arrived in the United States yesterday morning, where the players — under the leadership of Xabi Alonso — are preparing for their opening match in the Club World Cup, scheduled for next Wednesday.

While transfer rumors continue to swirl, the club’s management currently prefers not to publicly address any potential signings or departures for the 2025–26 season.

During his official unveiling as Real Madrid’s head coach, Alonso outlined his approach by stating:

“It is always our responsibility to seek improvement in every aspect of the game, including squad planning. Since officially taking over yesterday, I’ve wanted to open a dialogue with the management to agree on how we can move forward. The team is very strong, as I’ve already mentioned, and I’m excited to begin working with them. At this stage, I’m not asking for anything — I simply want to get started.”

These remarks signal Alonso’s intent to align all technical decisions with club president Florentino Pérez and general manager José Ángel Sánchez, particularly in matters concerning player departures.

According to Defensa Central, one name under consideration is Brahim Díaz. Reports suggest there is significant interest from the English Premier League, with Arsenal emerging as a potential suitor.

Sources indicate that Arsenal, having been priced out of a move for Rodrygo Goes, are now exploring alternatives. Manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly a strong admirer of Brahim Díaz and has encouraged the club to pursue his signing. The London side is said to be preparing an offer of up to €50 million for the Moroccan international, despite Alonso’s clear preference to retain him.

Alonso believes Brahim possesses rare qualities — especially his ability to break down defenses and operate effectively between the lines — attributes that are not widely available within the current squad.

However, the new coach has also emphasized that he does not want any player to remain at the club unwillingly. As such, the Club World Cup represents a key opportunity for Alonso to build rapport with his players and better understand their individual aspirations — a process that includes Brahim, as well as the rest of the Real Madrid squad.
