Real Madrid has kicked off its training camp in the United States in preparation for its opening match in the FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled for next Wednesday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. The team continues its preparations under the guidance of head coach Xabi Alonso, who places great importance on this tournament despite the limited preparation time.

Training sessions will continue at The Gardens North County District in Palm Beach and, unlike Sunday’s open session, will be held behind closed doors.

Speaking to the press, Alonso described the Club World Cup as a “double opportunity,” stating:

“First, it’s a chance to get to know the team and define who we are and what we want to become. Second, it’s a competition for a new title. This is the first edition of the Club World Cup under its new format, and we are fully ambitious. If we can combine both objectives, it will be a perfect start.”

Alonso’s comments highlight his focus on the sporting aspect of the tournament—not only striving for strong results but also using the event as an opportunity to assess his squad and identify potential areas for improvement, including future signings.

Beyond preparations, Real Madrid’s coaching staff is closely monitoring matches in the tournament. The staff watched Paris Saint-Germain’s dominant performance against Atlético Madrid, which ended in a resounding victory for the French side.

Despite acknowledging the challenges, Alonso has not hidden his admiration for several PSG players. In discussions with Real Madrid officials, he expressed interest in signing a player with characteristics similar to one of PSG’s standout stars.

In this context, Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique addressed the increased attention his players have received since their UEFA Champions League triumph. When asked specifically about Real Madrid’s reported interest in Ecuadorian defender Willian Pacho, Enrique replied:

“It’s normal for our players to attract admiration, but signing anyone from Paris Saint-Germain is not easy.”

Enrique’s remarks reflect the confidence of a coach riding high after European success, while also underlining the difficulty clubs face in luring players away from a PSG squad currently enjoying a strong run both on the field and in the media spotlight.
