In a move that reflects a long-term vision, Barcelona’s sporting director Deco announced the most important deal the club is counting on to secure its footballing future.

Flick led Barça to a domestic treble last season (La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Spanish Super Cup), and the club is keen to add a new winger to strengthen its attacking line.

In light of this, Deco confirmed that Barcelona has reached an agreement with Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams to join the team during the current summer transfer window.
Williams is eager to move to the Catalan club this summer to play alongside his friend and fellow Spanish international, Lamine Yamal.

Foot Mercato revealed that Barça has reached a verbal agreement with the young player on a six-year contract running until 2031.
The remaining step is to finalize terms with Athletic Bilbao to complete the deal and secure his services.

Williams is expected to earn an annual salary of €12 million at Barcelona. His current contract with Bilbao includes a €62 million release clause, and Barcelona must reach an agreement with the Basque club to activate it and sign the Spanish winger.

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick approved the move for Williams after Liverpool refused to sell Colombian winger Luis Díaz this summer.
