Behind the scenes of a fiery summer transfer window, signs of a major surprise are emerging regarding the future of one of Liverpool’s standout stars, as a major European club unexpectedly withdraws from the race to sign him—opening the door to shocking possibilities!
Well-informed sources have revealed that Barcelona, despite their ongoing efforts to strengthen their attacking line in preparation for the 2025/2026 season under manager Hansi Flick, has made the surprising decision to shut down negotiations with Colombian star Luis Díaz.
This decision comes despite Díaz being one of the top candidates to bolster the team’s offense, and the player himself had previously expressed openness to the idea of moving to Camp Nou.
But in a mysterious twist, Barcelona has decided to focus its efforts on just one deal at the moment: signing Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams. The Catalan club has been in talks with the player since the end of last season, but no official agreement has been reached yet.
Barcelona is preparing to activate the release clause in Williams’ contract, which stands at around £51 million, but the staggered payment structure has delayed the finalization of the deal so far.
On the other hand, the potential Díaz deal now seems virtually off the table for Barcelona, especially since Liverpool is demanding a high price in the range of €80–85 million, which exceeds Barcelona’s maximum limit for the deal (€60 million).
With the file still open at Anfield, new clubs have started to monitor the situation closely—especially clubs from outside Europe.
According to reports from Sport, Saudi club Al-Nassr has entered the negotiations strongly, preparing a massive offer that could completely change Díaz’s future this coming July.
This comes amid slow progress in Díaz’s contract renewal talks with Liverpool, as the club seeks to avoid a repeat of past delays with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.
So, are we on the verge of a blockbuster move to the Saudi league? And will Al-Nassr succeed in snatching the Premier League star from the clutches of Europe’s elite?
