While attention has been focused on new signings for the upcoming season, a prominent Real Madrid name has begun to surface in dramatic fashion amid talk of a possible departure — a move that could ignite the summer transfer market and unsettle rivals in England.
As Real Madrid fans watch cautiously, signs emerging from the Santiago Bernabéu suggest that something significant may be unfolding behind the scenes.
According to Spanish press reports, Brazilian star Rodrygo, the Real Madrid forward, now considers Arsenal his first-choice destination should he leave Los Blancos this summer.
The player, who was recently left out of the starting lineup for the Club World Cup final against Borussia Dortmund, now faces fierce competition — particularly with the emergence of Gonzalo Garcia, the rise of Arda Güler, and the full return to fitness of Kylian Mbappé.
Although coach Xabi Alonso has consistently praised Rodrygo’s abilities in public statements, sources close to the club’s leadership confirm that Real Madrid’s management would not block the player’s departure if a suitable offer were made.
According to Hand of Arsenal, Rodrygo has given absolute priority to a move to the Emirates Stadium, ahead of offers from major Saudi clubs, who have already been informed that his main desire is to play in the Premier League.
Despite this clear intention, the financial aspect remains a sticking point, as the player still has three years remaining on his contract with Real Madrid. It is estimated that the club is demanding around £70 million for his release — a significant profit compared to the £38.9 million paid to sign him from Santos in 2019.
Throughout his career with Los Blancos, Rodrygo has made 270 appearances, scoring 68 goals and providing 51 assists. In the 2024–25 season alone, he featured in 54 matches, scoring 14 goals and delivering 11 assists.
