A sudden move from Atlético Madrid threatens Barcelona’s stability before the transfer window closes… and the target is Flick’s favorite player

At a delicate and sensitive time, while Barcelona’s management is preoccupied with complex issues related to squad balance and Financial Fair Play regulations, signs of an unexpected move by one of La Liga’s biggest clubs have emerged—one that could significantly alter the Catalan team’s midfield.

Spanish newspapers close to La Liga’s decision-making circles have revealed quiet, early negotiations, led by an elite coach, to sign a young Barcelona player who has shown promise in recent years but is now suddenly on the verge of leaving.

According to Sport, the focus is on Atlético Madrid’s interest in signing young midfielder Marc Casadó. Diego Simeone sees this as an ideal opportunity to replace Rodrigo De Paul, who recently moved to Inter Miami.

Although Atlético has already strengthened its midfield with the signing of Johnny Cardoso this summer, Simeone views Casadó as a “new midfield leader” capable of providing immediate value to the Madrid-based team in the upcoming season.

On the other hand, Barcelona’s management does not oppose selling Casadó, especially given the club’s efforts to resolve its financial challenges and sign new players. The club is asking for approximately €30 million to release the player.

This development comes amidst Casadó’s diminishing chances of breaking into Hansi Flick’s starting lineup, particularly with Marc Bernal recovering and the coaching staff having settled on key players for the season.

Selling Casadó could be the key to allowing Barça to secure major signings—such as Marcus Rashford, Juan García, and Wojciech Szczęsny—with La Liga, as part of a return to the 1:1 financial rule, which would enable the club to operate more freely in the summer transfer market.
