Argentine legend Lionel Messi, the current star of the American club Inter Miami, has received a special request from his former team, Barcelona. Barcelona hopes to regain its glory days, but in a different way.
According to Cadena SER radio, the Catalan club is seriously considering contacting Messi to play a role in the club’s upcoming presidential elections.
The goal of this contact is to try to repair the strained relationship between the Golden Flea and the club, and to leverage his image in light of the electoral climate.
Messi is close to becoming Barcelona’s president.
It is worth noting that the elections are scheduled for next year, and current president Joan Laporta has confirmed his intention to run for a new term despite opposition from many Camp Nou fans.
Messi has not yet officially announced his candidacy, but reports indicate that he may take a symbolic step, declare a clear position in support of one of the candidates, or participate in the election campaign informally.
The Blaugrana consider restoring trust with Messi important, as he remains one of the pillars of the club’s identity, and his image represents a significant part of the relationship between Barça fans and the club internationally.
