Flick was right: The player failed to prove himself and has not found a team since being expelled from Barcelona!

Since taking over as Barcelona coach, Hansi Flick has distinguished himself by his ability to make decisive decisions regarding which players were expected to shine and which might be a burden. Flick was certain about certain players who would have a positive impact on the team and deserves credit for giving opportunities to players like Eric Garcia, Rafinha Dias, and Ferran Torres. These players quickly proved their worth and became key members of his squad. However, it wasn’t always this way.

On the other hand, some of the players Flick decided to let go from Camp Nou failed to establish themselves at their new clubs. Pablo Touré’s opportunities dwindled at Mallorca, while Pau Victor and Alex Valle performed poorly at Sporting Braga and Como, respectively. Héctor Fort also offered nothing new during his loan spell at Elche. Ansu Fati, despite his impressive goal-scoring record at Monaco, failed to secure a regular starting place.

But perhaps the most striking example of Flick’s impactful decisions was Oriol Romeu. The player, who had joined Barcelona in a move that seemed uncertain from the start, was forced by the German coach to search for another team. Initially, Barcelona struggled to find a suitable club for the midfielder, leaving him to endure a difficult transition period.

Girona then took a chance on him, but even a season-long loan proved ineffective. After a period of uncertainty, Barcelona attempted again to negotiate with other clubs, but none succeeded in convincing him.

However, after more than two months of waiting with no real chance of returning to the pitch, an unexpected call came from Southampton. The English club, where Romeu had enjoyed the best years of his career, decided to bring him back.

Thus, it appears that Oriol Romeu will soon return to the English Championship, playing at St. Mary’s Stadium once more, giving him a fresh start in his professional career.
